Field spice crop prospects look bright this season

Great monsoon and greater acreage, supported by favourable weather conditions, have brightened crop prospects for important discipline spices – grown on the discipline and not on the crops – like cumin seed (jeera) and coriander seeds (dhana), among other individuals.

The Federation of Indian Spice Stakeholders (FISS) on Sunday introduced its crop estimate for jeera with 29 for each cent soar in crop dimensions from previous calendar year, from four,16,600 tonnes in 2019 to 5,35,five hundred tonnes this calendar year.

Larger acreage

The overall area underneath jeera has amplified by about 25 for each cent at ten,25,600 hectares. Gujarat and Rajasthan are the two jeera developing States, wherever the acreage has noticed forty for each cent and 16 for each cent soar from previous calendar year, respectively, to four,39,830 hectares and 5,85,770 hectares. The all round generate is approximated to be in the selection of 522 kg for each hectare
